The digital photograph titled " Fresno Dome Greeting" features a dominant granite dome rising in isolation from the Soquel Meadow in the Sierra National Forest from the Cretaceous Period 145–66 million years ago. The Fresno Dome provides an amazing 180 degree vista of the surrounding area. Fresno Dome known to the Mono Indians as "the greeting place" ("wah-me-yelo") was visited by John Muir in the 1870s, and he used its summit to locate the giant sequoia grove now known as Nelder Grove.
