Fashion Accessories_2016 Fashion, The Studio Door, San Diego National Juried Exhibition - March 5-27
The Cawston Ostrich Farm in Pasadena California became a premier tourist attraction from 1886 through 1935. The ostrich feather hat would be at the peak of popularity during the “feather fashion craze” of the early 20th century. I decided to embrace the fashion theme utilizing my historic image and adding modern high-heel boots to the Ostrich from a photograph I had taken. This digitally manipulated kitsch image titled "Fashion Accessories" is sentimentally charming and amusing. The historic image is delightfully unusual and upon closer observation the high-heel boots the Ostrich is sporting becomes a pleasant surprise.
